About us:
"Kav Lachayim" foundation was established in 1989 and persists ever since in assisting disabled children who suffercancer, muscular dystrophy, cerebral paralysis, and other chronic diseases.
Thousands of members and volunteers of this organization are involved in improving the social quality of lifeof the sick children and their families, trying to respond to a variety of special needs.Our motto is "A slightsmile of happiness will conquer a huge disease".
"kav Lachayim" is the leading organization in Israel in activating thousands of healthy young people volunteering with sick people at their age; Thus, developing the social responsibilityof thehealthy young people and fortifying our social strength, needed so much.
Our activities take place mainly in the suburbs of State of Israel: Kiryat Shmone, Dimona, Shderoth….emphasizing the special needs of those who are sentenced to life of pain in an area with lowaccess to social and treatment centers.
The sick children and their families enjoy throughout the year a listening ear and an intensive assistance suitedto the critical situation they are in.
The main characteristic of our activities is the continuous and constant relations throughout the yearwith hundreds of children and their families, responding in their own surroundings, hospital-home, offering babysitting services, attending cultural activities with the children, , realizing sick children's dreams,all these performed with a personal volunteer accompanying each child.
We organize about 40 Shabbaths in various districts of the country with more than thousand children participants through the year.Different congregations invite the children to stay with them for the wholeShabbath.Each disabled child is accompanied by one or two volunteers to help him manage and get around. The children eat one meal with the hosting families, where they sleep.Otherwise, they have common activitiesin a central place.These Shabbaths endow the parents, whose whole life encircles the sick child,“a free time”” to rest and relate to their other children at home. The children enjoy this experience so muchthat they wish to participate again and again.We organize almost every two weeks such a Shabbath in various congregations all over the country.
Our 16 National Service girls are dispersed in hospitals all over the country, special schools for disabledchildren, rehabilitation departments, ecologic and orthopedic departments etc., (about 1500 children).The National Service girls serve as friends to the children, organize parties each Holiday, birthday, orjust for the fun…activities that make the children laugh and have good time.The girls visit the childrenat their home, as well (about 350 home visits).
Clubs – meeting placesof “Kav Lachayim”, or those in which “Kav Lachayim” participates in operating,are spread over the country, where the children enjoy various activities in the afternoons.
Country-wide activitiesare being held on special occasions such as, Succoth, Purim, Chanukah, happeningsfor the whole family – parents and children, games, meals, artists performances, D.J.,etc.
Summer Camp abroad– a group of25 disabled children, 20 volunteers and 5 staff people leave for ten days camp abroad, having fun, delight and happiness to be remembered in the difficult days to come.
Eight days of Summer Camp in Israel give the children a happy “break” from the outer world, bringingthem into the world of “kav Lachayim”, a world of happiness, love and care, a world of attractions and entertainments, trips in nature, water games etc.
It is the spirit that makes the camp, the benevolent atmosphere, the happiness endowed to the children….
Hedge funds:
"kav Lachayim" foundation specializes in assistance to families who are
raising funds for life saving treatments and operations outside Israel
that are not covered by government health insurance .
The foundation manages dozens of trust accounts. We assist families in
raising the funds rapidly in order to minimize the delay in medical
treatment.
We owe our success to our dear volunteers, youngsters and grownups who dedicate a great part of their life to “Kav Lachayim” and do a “holy work”.
All these projects and many more can be performed only with the assistance and donation of peopleand institutes who see themselves participants in our activities.
